Prep sports wrap: 5/4May 3, 2019
From Herald Staff Reports
As inclement weather and wet, rainy fields once again caused postponements and cancellations, a few local teams were able to get their contests in.
Here’s a brief run down of Friday night’s prep sports action.
Braves 7, Raiders 6: In a game that was being resumed from an earlier rain delay, the Southridge baseball team was defeated by conference foe Tecumseh as they outscored the Raiders 7-2 down the stretch to take the win.
While the Raiders were the home team on the scoreboard, this game was played at Tecumseh’s new ball field due to extremely wet conditions at League Stadium.
Southridge led 4-0 early but a four-run fifth inning tied things up and then a three-run top of the seventh gave the Braves all they needed for the victory.
Ethan Bell pitched a complete game loss on the mound for the Raiders.
Braves 11, Rangers 5: In a battle with Class 2A No. 2 Tecumseh, Forest Park quickly jumped out to a 5-4 lead after three innings.
However, a five-run fifth inning and a two-run sixth inning allowed the Braves to rally and complete the comeback home victory over the Rangers.
Kennedy Sermersheim led Forest Park with a team-high two RBIs in the loss.
