Friday night saw two wrestlers high school careers come to an end at the IHSAA State Finals in Indianapolis.
A few area basketball teams also had tough battles — both at home and on the road.
Here’s a brief rundown of Friday night’s prep sports action.
Flynn, Rea defeated at State: Jasper’s Zachary Flynn and Heritage Hills’ Aidian Rea high school wrestling careers came to an end at the IHSAA State Finals in Indianapolis on Friday evening.
Flynn was defeated by Culver Academy’s Andrew Donahue (37-2) by a 5-0 decision. Flynn finished his senior year with a record of 31-7.
Rea was defeated by Yorktown’s Holden Parsons (38-2) by a 3-1 decision. Rea wrapped up his senior year with a record of 37-11.
Raiders 41, Rebels 30: In a low scoring battle, the Southridge boys basketball team finished strong to defeat South Spencer in Rockport on Friday evening.
The Raiders found themselves up just 26-25 going into the final quarter of play but used a 15-6 advantage in the fourth quarter to pull themselves ahead for good.
Joe LaGrange led the Raiders with 15 points while Colson Montgomery added 14 points.
Jace Kelly led South Spencer with 11 points.
Lions 54, Jeeps 44: Northeast Dubois and Loogootee were locked in a tight conference battle for the majority of the game but the Lions used a strong second half to make the final push in the win.
Loogootee led by just five points at the halftime break but a 31-point second half (compared to Northeast Dubois’ 26) was enough to seal the win in Dubois.
Reece Bauer led the Jeeps with 13 points while Lane Knies added 12.
