Pond management workshop offered

Purdue Extension, the Perry County SWCD and the U.S. Forest Service are offering a pond management workshop at Oriole Pond at 5 p.m. Tuesday, March 19, weather permitting. Rain date is March 26, same time, same place. Oriole Pond is located by the Oriole Trailhead parking area off IN-66 in the Hoosier National Forest.

U.S. Forest Service Fish Biologist Len Kring will present hands-on training on pond weed management, and Extension Educator Sara Dzimianski will demonstrate how to identify pond weeds using a field guide and an identification key.

The program is free and open to the public. Two hours of Category 5 Commercial Applicator credit and two hours of registered technician credit are available at this program. Participants are requested to bring lawn chairs for seating. Call reservations into the extension office at 812-547-7084 by March 18.
