JASPER — Police estimated total damage between $1,000 and $2,500 in an SUV-versus-dog collision Thursday morning east of Jasper.
John P. Kettinger, 52, Shoals, was westbound on State Road 164 in a 2012 Mazda SUV when the 10:10 a.m. accident occurred 500 feet east of North Beaver Lake Road, according to the Dubois County Sheriff’s Department.
A deputy said a dog intent on investigating a dead skunk entered onto the highway and was struck by the Kettinger Mazda.
The SUV sustained damage to its grille area.
A deputy was unable to locate the injured dog at the scene.
