JASPER — The Dubois County Sheriff’s Department handed two citations to a Pike County motorist after a Monday morning mishap north of Jasper.
Kristoffer A. Newberry, 22, Otwell, was southbound on U.S. 231 in a 1997 Toyota Camry when the 6:37 a.m. mishap occurred 1,000 feet north of County Road 400N, according to a deputy.
The sheriff’s department said the Newberry Camry went off the west side of the highway and stopped after striking a guardrail.
The damage was estimated between $2,500 and $5,000.
The deputy investigating the accident issued Newberry tickets for having a false or ficticious plate and for operating a vehicle without financial responsibility.
A Sternberg Automotive Group wrecker towed the Toyota because of disabling damage.
