JASPER — Police ticketed both motorists after a pickup truck-versus-passenger car collision Monday afternoon at Newton Street and Reyling drive.
Cash A. Pollard, 27, of Midland, Texas, was in a 2016 Dodge Ram 2500 series pickup truck in a private drive on the east side of Newton Street at the time of the 4:16 p.m. mishap, according to the Jasper Police Department.
Pollard wanted to go south and an unknown driver in the northbound lane motioned for him to proceed with his left turn, police said.
When Pollard proceeded, police said, his truck struck the passenger front of a northbound car in the center, left-turn-only lane. The driver of that 2010 Chevrolet Impala, William E. Breidenbaugh, 79, Otwell, was in the center turn-only lane of Newton passing traffic to get to the 36th Street intersection, police said.
Damage was estimated at $3,000 to the Breidenbaugh car and $1,500 to the Pollard truck.
Police cited Pollard for failing to yield the right of way and ticketed Breidenbaugh for improper lane usage.
