Police: Shoplifter’s getaway included cart

JASPER — Police accused a Perry County man of shoplifting Thursday afternoon at the Walmart Supercenter.
The Jasper Police Department alleges that, at 4 p.m., Donnie A. McLain, 49, Tell City, filled a shopping cart with $604.67 in merchandise and then left the 4040 N. Newton St. store without paying for the items.
Police located McLain and the shopping cart at the Home Deport parking lot to the north, at 4250 N. Newton St.
After being read his Miranda Rights, police said, McLain allegedly admitted to taking the items.
Authorities booked McLain into the Dubois County Security Center at 5:52 p.m. on a preliminary misdemeanor count of theft.
