JASPER — The Jasper Police Department is seeking the public’s assistance as officers look for what was believed to have been a scooter involved in a leaving-the-scene accident reported Friday.
Police say a red 2014 Ford Escape owned by 20-year-old Natalie Hopf of Jasper was parked on the east side of the 3000 block of Leslie Drive last week. Sometime between Wednesday and Friday, police say, the Hopf Escape was side-swiped by what was believed to have been a scooter based on the type of damage to the SUV.
Jasper police say the unknown vehicle would likely have a red paint transfer from the Hopf Ford.
The damage to the Escape’s rear wheel area, both driver’s side doors and the front and rear quarter panels was estimated at $2,000.
Anyone with information on the incident is asked to call Jasper police at 812-482-2255 or the department’s anonymous tip line: 812-481-COPS (2677).
