Police seek pole-felling SUV

JASPER — The Jasper Police Department is asking for the public’s help as officers investigate a Sunday morning hit-and-run.

Police say an SUV struck a sign and a utility pole at Sixth and St. John streets at 3:35 a.m., causing the pole to fall into the roadway.

The burnt orange SUV with front-end damage then fled westbound on Sixth Street, police said.

Anyone with information on the driver or the whereabouts of the SUV is asked to call the Jasper Police Department at 812-482-2255 or the anonymous tip line at 812-481-2677(COPS).
