JASPER — The Jasper Police Department is asking for the public’s assistance as officers investigate a Sunday night leaving-the-scene accident.
Witnesses told police that, at 9:40 p.m., a burgundy Mercury Montego passenger car was eastbound on 14th Street when it struck a dog east of Newton Street.
The car continued east on 14th Street before turning north on Mill Street, witnesses said.
The Mercury may have damage to the front bumper or front right corner.
Anyone who could identify the driver is asked to call Jasper police at 812-482-2255 or the department’s anonymous tip line: 812-481-COPS (2677).
