Police seek hit-and-run suspects

From local sources

JASPER — The Jasper Police Department is asking for the public’s help as officers investigate a hit-and-run incident that occurred at a city liquor store.

The incident occurred at 2:50 p.m. Friday in front of Holiday Liquors North, 2905 N. Newton St.

Police say a white SUV with two males in the front seats pulled into a parking space. When the passenger opened his door, police say, he dented the driver’s side door of a tan 2000 Hyundai Sonata.

The SUV’s driver then backed up in an attempt to flee the scene, police said. The SUV’s door was still lodged in the tan sedan’s driver’s side door, which caused further damage.

Police say surveillance footage shows the SUV’s passenger closing his door and then shows the white SUV fleeing the scene

The suspects are believed to be Hispanic males in their mid-30s who frequent Holiday Liquors North, police said.

Anyone with information on the incident is asked to call Jasper police at 812-482-2255 or the department’s anonymous tip line: 812-481-COPS (2677).
