Police jail alleged Walmart shoplifter

JASPER — The Jasper Police Department took a Louisiana man into custody Friday evening for allegedly shoplifting at the Walmart Supercenter, 4040 N. Newton St.

Police received a report about a man attempting to fraudulently return an item at the store at 6:35 p.m.

After investigating, police took Reynolds M. Cummings, 30, Baker, Louisiana, into a custody, alleging he took a $154 dollhouse off the shelf and tried to return it.

Authorities booked Cummings into the Dubois County Security Center at 8:37 p.m. on a preliminary misdemeanor count of theft. He was released on his own recognizance later that night.
