Police investigate parking lot fender-benderJanuary 6, 2020
From Local Sources
FERDINAND — The damage was minor when two vehicles backed into each other Friday afternoon in a business’ parking lot.
Jessicia A. Jenkins, 35, English, who was driving a 2015 Dodge Caravan, and Michael E. Huckelby, 61, Ferdinand, who was driving a 2003 GMC Sonoma, were backing from parking spaces at CVS Pharmacy, 20 Industrial Park Road, at the time of the 2:25 p.m. mishap, according to the Ferdinand Police Department.
Police said the drivers backed up simultaneously, with the rear hatch of the Jenkins Caravan damaged by the trailer hitch of the GMC.
Rainfall at the time was a contributing factor in the accident, reducing sight and sound, according to police who did not ticket either driver.
Damage to the Jenkins Caravan was estimated at $2,000 while the Sonoma did not appear to have sustained damage.
