HUNTINGBURG — One person was pronounced dead at the scene of a two-vehicle crash this morning west of Huntingburg near the Holland Junction.
Details surrounding the 7:30 a.m. accident on State Road 64 near County Road 650W will not be released until next-of-kin notifications for the deceased male driver have been completed, according to the Dubois County Sheriff’s Department.
The sheriff’s department said first responders arrived on scene and found a male driver deceased.
Two females — one who was driving the second vehicle involved and the other, her passenger — declined to be transported by ambulance and were instead taken to be checked at Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center in Jasper by private vehicle, according to the sheriff’s department.
Drugs and/or alcohol are not thought to have been factors, according to the sheriff’s department.
The highway was closed for just over 90 minutes while the crash was investigated and the scene cleared.
Agencies assisting at the scene included the Huntingburg Volunteer Fire Department, Indiana State Police, Memorial Hospital Emergency Medical Services, the Dubois County Coroner’s Office and a Uebelhor & Sons wrecker.
