Police: Internal theft targets ATM

JASPER — Police arrested a Huntingburg man Saturday, accusing him of stealing from an ATM in his workplace.

The Jasper Police Department alleges that in August, Ernest D. Chasteen, 26, of 217 N. Arjem St., Huntingburg, who was a former employee of the Huck’s convenience store at 230 Third Ave., Jasper, took a total of $4,940 from an ATM located in the store.

Police arrested Chasteen on three preliminary Level 6 felony counts of theft. Authorities booked Chasteen into the Dubois County Security Center at 12:43 p.m. He then posted bond Saturday afternoon.
