Police: Habitual traffic violator caught driving

From Local Sources

JASPER — A Pike County man was taken into custody Saturday afternoon and accused of a felony driving offense.

A Jasper Police Department officer patrolling as part of the holiday “Click It to Live It” blitz ran the plate of a 2004 Pontiac being driven by Anthony L. Eilert, 23, Winslow, at 2:36 p.m. and determined Eilert was classified as a habitual traffic violator.

A search of the vehicle after the ensuing traffic stop at 37th and Newton streets allegedly found a digital scale and, inside a false-bottomed aerosol can, a glass smoking pipe and marijuana.

Authorities booked Eilert into the Dubois County Security Center at 5:02 p.m. on preliminary charges of Level 6 felony driving while classified as a habitual traffic violator and misdemeanor possession of marijuana and possession of paraphernalia.
