Police, fire stations collect medications

The Dubois County Medication Collection Day will be Saturday, Oct. 27. The Jasper State Police Post, located at 2209 Newton St., will host the collection from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. while the Holland Fire Station, located at 504 Main St., and the St. Anthony Fire Station, located at 4068 E 450S, will host from 10 a.m. to noon.

The Huntingburg and Jasper police stations also accept pharmaceuticals 24/7 in their medical drop boxes located at 503 E. First St. and 309 E. Sixth St., respectively.

Expired, unwanted and unused medications, vitamins, ointments, syrups, drops, herbal products and aerosols not in pressurized containers will be accepted at the collection sites. No sharps, infectious materials (anything containing bodily fluids) or waste will be collected.

The Dubois County Sheriff’s Department will supervise the collections at the Holland and St. Anthony fire stations, and the Indiana State Police will supervise the Jasper Post site. Sponsors include the Drug Enforcement Administration, Indiana State Police, Dubois County Sheriff’s Department, Dubois County Solid Waste Management District, Dubois County Substance Abuse Council, Dubois County Coalition for Adolescent Resilience and Empowerment Strategies, Tri-Cap Retired and Senior Volunteer Program and fire stations.
