Police: Drug robbery led to suburban shootoutSeptember 13, 2017
By The Associated Press
GREENWOOD — Authorities say they believe a shootout at a suburban Indianapolis home that left one man dead stemmed from an attempt to steal drugs from the residents.
Greenwood police say a man living at the house told officers he was letting someone out the front door about 12:30 a.m. Tuesday when he was confronted by a gunman.
Both men fired shots and the apparent robber collapsed outside the house. The 21-year-old man who fired shots and a 21-year-old woman inside the house were hospitalized with non-life threatening gunshot wounds. The man who died wasn’t immediately identified.
Investigators reported finding large amounts of marijuana and several guns inside the house.
Johnson County Prosecutor Brad Cooper says charges won’t be filed in the shooting, but the residents could face drug dealing charges.
