DALE — Police charged a Dale man last week after an incident involving the all-terrain vehicle he was operating.
A Dale Police Department officer reported attempting to stop an ATV Tuesday afternoon, May 26, after it turned onto Burress Road from Washington Street north of Dale. The driver, later identified as Tyler S.L. Staats, 22, 21874 N. Spencer County Road 500E, Dale, allegedly refused to pull over for two officers who had emergency lights activated.
Police reported the ATV crossed U.S. 231 onto Spencer County Road 2050N and then onto a dirt lane off Spencer County Road 300E where the chase ended when the dirt lane terminated.
Staats was charged with Level 6 felony resisting law enforcement with a vehicle. During an initial hearing Thursday, May 28, in Spencer Circuit Court, a preliminary plea of not guilty was entered on his behalf and his next hearing was set for Aug. 21.
