FERDINAND — Law enforcement officers who answered a Tuesday afternoon call reporting a man causing a disturbance arrested the individual on multiple preliminary counts.
The Ferdinand Police Department was called at 4:30 p.m. with the report of an intoxicated man causing a disturbance at a residence and then walking toward the Roos Heights neighborhood.
Officers located the man, Adam P. Mehling, 29, 512 E. 23rd St., Ferdinand, on Industrial Park Road North near State Road 162.
After investigating, police detained Mehling and took him to Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center because of his level of intoxication. His blood alcohol content was allegedly tested at .323%.
Police report that Mehling became physical with officers.
After he was medically cleared at the hospital, Mehling was booked into the Dubois County Security Center at 1:02 a.m. today on preliminary charges that included a Level 6 felony count of battery on a public safety official and misdemeanor counts of public intoxication and resisting law enforcement.
The Dubois County Sheriff’s Office assisted.
