Police arrest habitual traffic violator

HUNTINGBURG — A Huntingburg Police Department officer patrolling Friday evening as part of Operation Pull Over arrested a motorist on a pair of felony charges.

The officer, who knew Curtis D. Rodgers, 35, 308 E. 22nd St., Huntingburg, was classified as a habitual traffic violator and did not have a valid driver’s license, reports observing Rodgers operating a Honda Civic at 7:03 p.m. at 12th and Chestnut streets.

The officer who stopped the Honda at 12th Street and County Road 400W alleged that a white, crystalline substance that field tested positive as methamphetamine was located in the vehicle.

Authorities booked Rodgers into the Dubois County Security Center at 10:09 p.m. on preliminary charges that included a Level 5 felony count of driving while classified as a habitual traffic violator for life and a Level 6 felony count of possession of methamphetamine.
