Police arrest alleged Walmart shoplifter

JASPER — The Jasper Police Department took a Kentucky man into custody Sunday for allegedly shoplifting at Walmart Supercenter, 4040 N. Newton St.

Police received a report from asset protection staff at 12:15 p.m. Sunday that a theft was in progress.

Authorities allege Joshua G. Profitt, 34, Utica, Kentucky, attempted to take three trail cameras, various personal care products, some air fresheners, four bottles of supplements and six protein bars with a combined total value of $653.66.

Profitt was booked into the Dubois County Security Center at 2:32 p.m. on a preliminary misdemeanor count of theft. He posted bond late Sunday evening.
