Police allege man stole whiskey, hid in atticJune 19, 2017

JASPER — The Jasper Police Department arrested a man Friday afternoon and accused him of shoplifting at the Walmart Supercenter, 4040 Newton St.
Police were called at 2:03 p.m. in reference to a man alleged to have fled on foot after taking a bottle of Knob Creek whiskey valued at $32.07.
The suspect, Jacob T. Gonzalez, 25, who was booked with an address of 610 W. 36th St., was later discovered by police at a 36th Street apartment where he was allegedly attempting to evade authorities by hiding in an attic.
After being taken into custody without incident, Gonzales was booked into the Dubois County Security Center at 5:02 p.m. on a preliminary misdemeanor count of theft.
