JASPER — Police called to the report of a man unable to stand at a Jasper pharmacy late Monday night eventually arrested him for allegedly being impaired.
The Jasper Police Department was called to CVS Pharmacy, 617 W. Sixth St., and found Brian A. Smith, 35, 444 Third Ave., sitting in a chair in a medicine aisle.
Police said Smith appeared confused, disoriented, had poor balance and had difficulty answering questions. He stated he had driven to CVS but was not taking any substances other than prescription medications.
A blood draw at Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center allegedly found methamphetamine, amphetamines, opiates and ecstasy in Smith’s system, according to authorities.
Smith was arrested and booked into the Dubois County Security Center at 3:12 a.m. today on preliminary misdemeanor counts of operating while intoxicated (drugs) and public intoxication.
