JASPER — A man went to jail Friday after police were called to the report of a man passed out in his vehicle at the intersection of Mannheim Road and Baden Strasse.
The Jasper Police Department responded at 5:30 p.m. and made contact with Andrew J. Wheeler, 29, 940 MacArthur St., Jasper, who was in a 2007 Dodge Caravan.
Police say Wheeler showed obvious signs of impairment and his blood alcohol content tested .32 percent.
Authorities booked Wheeler into the Dubois County Security Center at 8:16 p.m. on charges that included preliminary Level 6 felony counts of operating while intoxicated (prior) and neglect of a dependent.
His preliminary charges also included operating while intoxicated with a passenger less than 18 years of age.
Wheeler posted bond Saturday night.
