From local sources

HUNTINGBURG — A Thursday afternoon call reporting an unresponsive man lying behind a garage in the 100 block of North Jackson Street ended in an arrest.

Officers with the Huntingburg Police Department who responded to the 1:35 p.m. call said the intoxicated man, determined to be Kevin D. Payne, 54, 513 S. Walnut St., did not identify himself when repeatedly asked to do so. Police allege he threatened to assault officers and attempted to bite, kick and fight them during the encounter.

Later, while at Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center because of his level of intoxication, Payne also allegedly threatened medical staff and hospital security. Authorities said his blood alcohol content tested .31 percent.

Authorities booked Payne into the Dubois County Security Center at 5:50 p.m. on preliminary misdemeanor counts of intimidation, resisting law enforcement and failure to identify.
