Plan to attend parade, Miss Flame contest

ST. MEINRAD — The St. Meinrad Volunteer Fire Department will host the Indiana Volunteer Firefighter’s Association District 18 Fire Prevention Parade and Miss Flame Contest on Sunday, Oct. 13.

The Miss Flame competition will be held on the Archabbey Grounds beginning at 8 a.m. The parade will begin at noon. The judging stand will be located at the fire house on State Road 545. Trophies will be awarded and the Miss Flame Contest winner will be announced immediately following the parade.

Categories being judged in the parade are fire equipment (pre 1985); fire equipment (post 1985); convertibles, cars and trucks; walking/drill units; floats/trailers; horse units; and tractors.

Any business, group or individual interested in participating in one of the above categories should contact Chief Thomas P. Kloeck at 812-549-8093 and ask for a parade route map and an entry form. The parade will line up and begin behind the Abbey Gift Shop.

Hamburgers and drinks will be available at the fire house and along the parade route.
