JASPER — A 30-year-old pizza place employee was placed under arrest today for allegedly stealing more than $7,000 from the business.
The Jasper Police Department reports that they were contacted by the owner of Little Caesars, 3121 N. Newton St., in reference to an internal theft by an employee.
Upon further investigation, police say they made contact with Braxton J. Cannon, 316 N. Jackson St., Huntingburg, who allegedly admitted to taking a total of $7,184.15 on several occasions over a one month period.
Upon being detained in front of the nearby Smoker Friendly store, 2913 N. Newton St., police allege Cannon was found to be in possession of paraphernalia, methamphetamine and multiple controlled substances.
Police also allege that Cannon resisted law enforcement as he was being detained.
He was taken into custody and lodged at the Dubois County Security Center on preliminary charges that include nine counts of Level 6 felony theft, a Level 6 felony count of possession of methamphetamine and misdemeanor counts of possession of paraphernalia, possession of a scheduled II controlled substance and resisting law enforcement.
