Pipe replacements planned from St. Anthony to BirdseyeJuly 28, 2020
From Local Sources
BIRDSEYE — The Indiana Department of Transportation will tackle multiple culvert pipe replacements along State Road 64 between St. Anthony and Birdseye next week.
INDOT will close the highway for the work beginning on or around Tuesday, Aug. 4. Crews will replace one pipe at a time and, once finished, will move on to the next.
The work is expected to last about three days, depending on weather conditions.
Each replacement will require a full road closure for excavation of the old pipe, according to INDOT. Once work is finished, crews will fill pavement cuts, allow them to compact under traffic and return later to finish paving.
During the closure, the state’s official detour for through traffic will make use of State Road 145, I-64 and U.S. 231. Local traffic will have access up to the point of closure.
INDOT is urging drivers to slow down and stay alert near crews doing the work.
