PETERSBURG — A crash Friday afternoon along I-69 in Pike County killed Emily Lengacher, 21, of Cannelburg, according to Indiana State Police.
Lengacher was northbound near the 40-mile marker in a 2009 Chevrolet Cobalt when her right rear tire blew out at 4:55 p.m., police said. She lost control of the car, which entered the median and rolled several times before stopping on the shoulder of the southbound lanes, according to authorities.
Police said Lengacher was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected during the crash. She was pronounced dead at the scene by the Pike County Coroner’s Office.
The crash closed the interstate’s southbound lanes for about an hour.
The Pike County Sheriff’s Department and Petersburg Police Department assisted.
