JASPER — Police made an impaired driving arrest early today after responding to an area northeast of Jasper.
The Dubois County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched at 1 a.m. to the report of a suspicious truck in the area of the 6600 block of Kellerville Road.
A responding deputy encountered a southbound truck with an inoperable headlight in the vicinity of Kellerville Road and north of County Road 420N and stopped the 2006 Dodge Ram after it had gone into the northbound lane while southbound.
Police said the driver, David J. Hollis, 38, Velpen, admitted to drinking, failed field sobriety testing and had a blood alcohol content that tested .18% in a certified test at the Jasper Police Station.
Authorities booked Hollis into the Dubois County Security Center at 2:18 a.m. on a preliminary misdemeanor count of operating while intoxicated.
