Pike County man jailed on theft warrant

JASPER — A Pike County man was booked into the Dubois County Security Center on a warrant charging him with theft.

Jacob P. Barr, 23, Petersburg, is accused of exerting unauthorized control over another’s bank debit card in early June in Jasper, with the amount of the theft placed at $300, according to charging information in the case investigated by the Jasper Police Department.

Barr was charged with a Level 6 felony count of theft after authorities filed a notice of intent to seek an enhanced penalty based on a prior conviction for theft in 2018 in Knox County.

A warrant for Barr’s arrest was issued out of Dubois Superior Court on Monday. Authorities booked him into the security center at 1:18 p.m. Monday on the active warrant.
