FERDINAND — One driver received a warning Thursday afternoon after two pickup trucks collided along a county road northwest of Ferdinand.
Doyle W. Jones, 61, Ferdinand, was southbound on County Road 75E in a 2016 Ford F-150 when the 5:40 p.m. mishap occurred at County Road 850S, according to the Dubois County Sheriff’s Office.
A deputy said Jones’ Ford was struck near its passenger-side front wheel by an eastbound 2005 Toyota Tacoma driven by Tanler W. Schnarr, 16, Ferdinand.
Schnarr, who said he had stopped at the intersection, had intended to make a left turn to go north on County Road 75E, according to the sheriff’s office.
Jones said he swerved to the left in an unsuccessful attempt to avoid a collision when he saw the Toyota start to pull out.
Both trucks were driven from the scene, although Jones’ Ford needed a tire changed before it was operable.
A deputy gave Schnarr a warning, referencing failure to yield the right of way.
Total damage was estimated between $5,000 and $10,000.
