DUBOIS — Damage was estimated between $2,500 and $5,000 in a pickup truck-versus-deer collision Tuesday evening north of Dubois.
Marissa K. DeWeese, 20, Dubois, was northbound on State Road 545 in a 2005 Ford Explorer Sport Trac when the 6:24 p.m. accident occurred south of Zehr Road, according to the Dubois County Sheriff’s Department.
A deputy said a deer that came from the west ran out in the roadway and struck the driver’s front corner of the Ford.
The deer was located deceased in a ditch on the west side of the highway.
DeWeese was able to drive from the scene.
