JASPER — One motorist was transported for treatment after a pickup truck-versus-car collision late Tuesday morning at Seventh and Newton streets.
Roger W. Seifrig, 67, St. Meinrad, was eastbound on Seventh Street in a 1997 Ford F-150 at the time of the 11:43 a.m. accident, according to the Jasper Police Department.
Seifrig, who stopped at the Newton Street intersection, said traffic was backed up in the west southbound lane at the location, north of the intersection. He proceeded and, because of the backup up traffic in the west lane, did not see a southbound 2008 Toyota Avalon in the east lane of Newton Street.
Police said the Seifrig truck drove into the passenger side of the Avalon driven by Marie A. Moses, 70, Jasper.
Moses complained of shoulder, stomach and knee pain after the collision, according to authorities. She was treated and released at Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center, according to a hospial spokeswoman.
Damage was estimated at $8,000 to the Toyota passenger car and $2,000 to the Ford truck.
Police ticketed Seifrig for failing to yield the right of way.
