Pickup goes off curve, into ditchFebruary 7, 2020
From Local Sources
IRELAND — An assist was needed from a wrecker after a pickup truck found its way into a ditch on the west end of the county Tuesday.
George R. Faith, 69, Washington, was westbound on Old Petersburg Road in a 1998 Chevrolet truck in the leadup to the 1:10 p.m. mishap that occurred 750 feet north of State Road 56, according to the Dubois County Sheriff’s Office.
A deputy said Faith failed to negotiate a curve where the road turns south. His truck went left of center in the curve and off the east side of the roadway.
The truck entered a ditch and stopped after striking a telephone pole.
Damage was estimated at less than $1,000.
A Schell Auto wrecker got the truck out of the ditch so Faith could drive away, according to the sheriff’s office.
