Phillip R. “Pete” Rice, 73, of Jasper, passed away on Friday, January 25, 2019, at Jasper Memorial Hospital in Jasper.
Pete was born in Grandview on November 21, 1945, to the late Albert R. Rice and Mame L. (Jones) Rice.
Pete served in the United States Army and was a member of the Rockport American Legion Post 254. He retired from Peerless Pottery in Rockport after more than 30 years.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Sharon (Bartlett) Rice; grandson, Jeffrey Kost; and siblings, Claude and Larry Rice.
Pete is survived by his daughter, Tina (Jeff) Kost of Jasper; a son, Patrick (Jennifer) Rice, Chrisney; grandchildren, Jason Kost, Jacob Christian, and Alec Rice; siblings, Jane (Gene) Jones, Terry (Cindy) Rice; and many nieces, nephews,and extended family and friends.
Services are 11 a.m. Wednesday, January 30 at the Boultinghouse Funeral Home, Rockport, with Pastor Carl Jones officiating.
Visitation is from 4 until 8 p.m. Tuesday, January 29, and from 9 a.m. until the time of service Wednesday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Rockport American Legion Post 254.
