HUNTINGBURG — No injuries were reported after a deer-versus-SUV collision Wednesday evening south of Huntingburg.
Angela C. Rupert, 56, Jasper, was northbound on U.S. 231 in a 2009 Toyota RAV4 when the 6:34 p.m. accident occurred 200 feet north of County Road 1150S, according to the Dubois County Sheriff’s Department.
A deputy said Rupert was unable to avoid a deer that came onto the highway from the east.
Damage to the front driver’s side of the SUV was estimated to have exceeded $5,000.
A deputy who located the deer deceased off the side of the roadway issued a permit for it to be claimed.
