Pepper spray allegation brings criminal chargeNovember 26, 2018

JASPER — A man who allegedly used pepper spray on an ex-girlfriend earlier this month was jailed during the weekend on an arrest warrant.
Brock E. Gill, 27, 1300 Dewey St., Jasper, is charged with misdemeanor domestic battery in Dubois Circuit Court.
Court documents indicate the Jasper Police Department was called Nov. 6 after a woman reported her ex-boyfriend had come to her apartment and sprayed her in the face with pepper spray.
An officer made contact with the victim at Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center, where she was being checked. She told police Gill had walked into the apartment with his pepper spray in his hand and they argued.
The victim said Gill had tried to take her purse and, when she tried to stop him, he sprayed the left side of her face with pepper spray. The victim said her glasses prevented the substance from going directly in her eyes but it caused burning to her face and sinuses.
Police were unable to locate Gill at that time. A warrant for his arrest was issued Nov. 14.
A Dubois County Sheriff’s Department deputy took Gill into custody Saturday and booked him into the Dubois County Security Center at 8:31 a.m. on the active warrant.
