Paul David Witmeier, 75, of Dubois, IN, passed away Tuesday, December 8, 2020 at North River Health Campus. He was born August 8, 1945 in Evansville, IN, to the late Joseph B. and Antoinette (Rode) Witmeier.
Paul was an experienced electrician who retired from both Yankeetown Dock Corporation and EVSC and was also employed by Reitz Electric and ADT. Paul was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church and St. Raphael Catholic Church in Dubois, IN. He was a 45 year member of the American Legion Post 147 in Jasper, IN and a member of U.M.W.A. Local 1907.
Paul is survived by his wife, Janet M. (Rush) Witmeier; children, Kristie (Mark) Bradford, Angie (Miguel) Ortiz, and Andy (Allison) Witmeier; grandchildren, Micah (Ryan), Joalex, Nathan, Lisa, Lexie, Ashley, and A.J.; great granddaughter, Hadley; sister, Rita (Kenny) Wolf; brother, Gary (Cindy) Witmeier; and sister-in-law, Jane Witmeier; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Paul was preceded in death by sisters, Janet and Carol Witmeier; and brother, Tony Witmeier.
Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. CST Sunday, December 13, 2020 at Ziemer Funeral Home Central Chapel, 626 N. First Avenue. Visitation will continue from 9:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. CST Monday, December 14, 2020 at All Saints Parish, St. Anthony Church, 704 N. First Avenue. A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:00 a.m. with Father Jeff Read officiating. Due to the current pandemic, masks will be required and social distancing observed.
The Mass will be live streamed on the Ziemer Funeral Home and Cremation Services’ Facebook page 20 minutes prior to the start of service.
Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery with military rites observed.
The family would like to express their gratitude to the North River Health Campus and AseraCare Hospice staff for their compassionate care of Paul.
