TELL CITY — Hall of Fame quarterback Roger Staubach once said, “in any team sport, the best teams have consistency and chemistry.”
Heritage Hills proved to be consistent Friday night, as the Class 3A No. 3 ranked Patriots picked up a 42-6 romp over Pocket Athletic Conference foe Tell City.
Heritage Hills led 14-0 after the first 12 minutes of play and 21-0 at the half.
Jacob Wetzel gave the Patriots a 7-0 lead with a 35-yard scoring rush with 7 minutes, 44 seconds left in the first frame.
Cole Sigler added his first of three scores on the night on a 6-yard rush, before capping the first half-scoring when he hooked up with Wetzle for a 26-yard strike with 2:14 left in the half.
Phoenix Rodgers, Sigler and Owen Schaad all scored in the second half to finish off the Marksmen.
The Patriots rolled to 362 yards from scrimmage including 255 yards on the ground.
Wetzel (81) and Rodger (71) combined for 151 yards on the ground as both backs toted the ball 10 times.
Sigler completed four passes — two for scores — in part of his 107-yard passing night.
Kaden Feldpausch hauled in three passes for 81 yards, 75 of which came on a touchdown reception from Sigler in the second half.
Heritage Hills (2-0) plays host to Pike Central next Friday.
