Patoka Valley Quilt Guild

The Patoka Valley Quilt Guild met on July 6, 2021, at the Ferdinand Community Center with President Melissa Ruschau presiding. The treasurer’s report was given, and committees gave their monthly report.

Sherri Hilgeman reported for the Education committee that open sewing at the Ferdinand Library would be held on July 15-17 and Aug. 19-21. Block magazine by Missouri Star Quilt Company is still available at the Jasper library. And the quilt show is on display at the Thyen-Clark Cultural Center until Aug. 20 with an opening reception on Aug. 5 from 5 to 7 p.m.

Special Projects reported the distribution of quilts this month to Crisis Connection, Good Sam’s, and Memorial Hospital. Some kits were available for members to take seven and finish. The retreat committee reported that the St. Meinrad retreat this fall will be held Sept. 7-9. Members should send their paperwork to Ann Jorden as soon as possible.

In new business, the 2021-22 budget was presented. In newsletter discussion it was decided to discontinue the monthly newsletter at this time. The telephone tree will be utilized for short-notice information. Three members volunteered to judge the quilts at St. Mary’s Ireland for their picnic.

The program for the meeting included Fidget Quilts for Memorial Hospital. Members were requested to bring any materials they are willing to share to the next meeting. The program also included information on how to quilt your small quilts either by hand or machine. The August program will include a two part mystery project.

The next meeting of the Guild will be held on Tuesday, Aug. 3, 2021, at the Ferdinand Community Center. New members are always welcome.
