Patoka Lake boater accused of impairment

PATOKA LAKE — A Floyd County boater was arrested by a Department of Natural Resources conservation officer during the weekend and accused of boating while impaired on Patoka Lake.

A 2008 personal watercraft operated by Christopher D. Bierly, 33, Floyds Knobs, was stopped on the lake at 7:30 p.m. Friday for allegedly exceeding the nighttime speed limit of 10 mph. A conservation officer reported that Bierly’s craft was going 23 mph.

His blood alcohol content reportedly test .10 percent.

Authorities booked Bierly into the Dubois County Security Center at 9:12 p.m. on a preliminary misdemeanor count of boating while intoxicated. He posted bond early Saturday morning.
