CELESTINE — A Birdseye man was able to drive away from the scene of an early Tuesday car-versus-deer accident west of Celestine.

Dawson A. McBride, 18, Birdseye, was eastbound on State Road 164 in a 2002 Chevrolet Impala when the 12:30 a.m. accident occurred at Steinbottom Road, according to the Dubois County Sheriff’s Office.

A deputy said McBride’s car collided with a deer that came onto the highway from the south, damaging the front, driver’s side of the Impala.
