Parole home visit ends in new arrest, charges

HUNTINGBURG — Police assisting parole agents with a home visit Friday arrested the parolee after finding drugs in the residence.

The Dubois County Sheriff’s Office and Huntingburg Police Department assisted Indiana Department of Corrections parole agents at the 1205 N. Chestnut St. home of 41-year-old Jonathan W. Opel at 12:04 p.m.

Police allege Opel was found to illegally possess multiple controlled substances and legend (prescription) drugs at the home. Methamphetamine and paraphernalia were also located, according to police.

Authorities booked Opel into the Dubois County Security Center at 2:16 p.m. on preliminary charges of Level 6 felony possession of methamphetamine and unlawful possession of legend drugs (three counts) and misdemeanor counts of illegal possession of Schedule I, 3 and 4 controlled substances and possession of paraphernalia.
