Parklands to open Saturday

From Local Sources

JASPER — The Parklands will open to the public Saturday with two celebrations: a dedication and a grand opening.

The dedication ceremony will be held at 10:30 a.m. at the pavilion and will include a ribbon-cutting on the boardwalk. The official grand opening will be at 1 p.m. The public is invited to both events.

The Parklands is a 75-acre nature park located in the center of the city near Jasper High School with the main entrance off 15th Street. The park includes a 2-mile walking trail, outdoor fitness stations, adventure playgrounds and three ponds, including one for fishing. The total cost of the project was $7 million, paid in part by donations.
