Park earns Eagle Scout

Boy Scouting’s highest rank, that of Eagle Scout, was presented to Carson James Park at an Eagle Scout Court of Honor on June 9 at the Jasper High School Community Center. He is the son of Michael and Stephanie Park.

Boy Scout Troop 185 Scoutmaster Fred Feltner welcomed everyone. Joe Schitter served as master of ceremonies. The colors were presented by Sam and Anthony Kluemper. Kadon Hurm and Cameron Mehringer escorted Park. Readers were Josh Buschkoetter, Nathan Mehringer and Sam Kluemper. Eagle Board of Review members were Griffin Park, Todd Mehringer and Toby Harmon. “Eagle Scout” was read by Griffin Park and “It’s Only a Pin” was read by Michael Park. Feltner delivered the Eagle Scout Charge. Park lead with an opening prayer.

Park started his Scouting career with Cub Scout Pack 183 at Precious Blood, advancing from Tiger Cub to Webelos Scout and earning his Parvuli Dei Religious Emblem. He crossed over to Holy Family Boy Scout Troop 185 and was in the Bobcat patrol. He served as patrol quartermaster and assistant patrol leader. He completed 32 merit badges and received the Ad Altare Dei Religious Emblem.

He is a member of Venture Crew 185 and participated in a high-adventure hiking trip at Philmont, New Mexico, in 2016. For his Eagle project, he chinked the walls of the log cabin by the Shaeffer Barn for Redevelop Old Jasper Action Coalition, thus completing the cabin rebuild. His older brother, Griffin, started the reconstruction of the historic cabin by rebuilding the cabin walls from the original logs, adding a roof and porch for his Eagle project in 2013.

Park will be a junior at Jasper High School and is a member of the football and track team, Spanish Club, Fellowship of Christian Athletes and Peer Mentors. He is the vice president of the Key Club.
