Parish announces modified picnicJuly 15, 2020
MARIAH HILL — St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Parish-Mariah Hill set a date for a modified picnic. The picnic is planned from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. CT Sunday, Aug. 9.
The parish’s famous soup will be sold by the gallon. Presale will be held from 7 to 10 a.m. CT Saturday, Aug. 8, at the Mariah Hill park grounds. People are asked to bring gallon jars, clearly marked with their first and last name. The price is $16 per gallon; reserve soup orders. The jars will be filled Sunday morning and will be ready for pick up from 10:30 a.m. to noon.
Drive-thru or carryout chicken dinners, along with handmade and baked goods, will be sold from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. CT at the Mary Help of Christians Church Parish Hall. Enter from the Mary Help of Christians Church entrance off State Road 62 in Mariah Hill. Chicken dinners will include one-fourth chicken, mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans and slaw.
There will be picnic tables distanced throughout the Mariah Hill park grounds just below the Mary Help of Christians Parish Hall. Attendees may eat their dinner and handmade desserts outside.
A raffle filled with chances to win cash and other prizes will be available. Handmade quits also will be available for sale at $400 a piece. Raffle tickets and quilts will be for sale from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. CT.
The grand raffle will start at 1:30 p.m. CT.
