JASPER — Two Jasper residents have been arrested after an unresponsive 3-month-old died in a Louisville hospital this week.
On Monday, the Jasper Police Department was notified that an unresponsive 3-month-old infant was taken to the emergency room at Memorial Hospital in Jasper.
Prosecuting Attorney Anthony Quinn says the infant was flown to Norton's Children's Hospital in Louisville and was pronounced dead the next day at 7:54 p.m.
After an extensive investigation by the Jasper Police Department, police arrested Jordan R. Leinenbach, 28, of Jasper and Cassandra M. Potts, 24, of Jasper, according to Quinn.
Quinn says both subjects have been preliminarily charged with felony counts of neglect of a dependent resulting in death and reckless homicide.
Quinn notes that the investigation is ongoing and further updates on the case will be made when appropriate.
In the press release announcing the arrests, Quinn notes that these criminal charges are merely accusations and that every defendant is presumed innocent until and unless they are proven guilty in a court of law.
