FERDINAND — An officer made an impaired driving arrest early Sunday after observing erratic driving on Main Street.
A Ferdinand Police Department officer made notice of a 2013 Chevrolet Malibu at 12:17 a.m. after the car pulled from a driveway in the 1600 block of Main Street driving slowly before accelerating to the posted speed limit.
Following the southbound car, the officer noted it crossing the centerline in the 1500 and 1200 blocks before veering right toward the curb on the west side of Main Street after passing Ninth Street.
Police say the driver, Rogelio Mendoza Jr., 28, Evansville, took four blocks to come to a stop when the officer initiated a traffic stop.
Mendoza exhibited signs of being intoxicated and allegedly admitted to consuming alcoholic beverages during the course of the evening, police said.
A certified chemical test placed Mendoza’s blood alcohol content at .176%, according to authorities.
Mendoza was booked into the Dubois County Security Center at 1:45 a.m. on a preliminary misdemeanor count of operating while intoxicated. He posted bond Sunday afternoon.
